Heritage Steel-Look Windows

Overview

Heritage steel-look windows give you the slim black frames and glazing bars of traditional steel windows, the industrial look made famous by Crittall, in modern thermally broken aluminium. They suit Victorian and Edwardian terraces, 1930s homes, warehouse conversions and contemporary extensions alike.

Aluminium is a natural fit for the steel look. It is strong enough to carry large panes in very slim profiles, it insulates far better than solid steel, and a powder-coated finish won't rust or need repainting. You get the character of a period steel window with the comfort and low maintenance of a modern one.

As an Origin accredited partner, we supply Origin's Soho Collection, a steel-style range inspired by the London neighbourhood. It includes casement, picture, French, bay, gable, bi-fold and tilt and turn windows, with steel-style glazing bars, slim sightlines and signature knurled handles. Every window is made to measure, so you choose the size, configuration, colour, hardware and bar layout.

We begin with a free home design visit and a full measure for an accurate quotation. A surveyor checks every detail before manufacture, and our fitting team installs your windows with care to protect your home. Each installation comes with a FENSA certificate, a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee and the manufacturer's product guarantee. For matching steel-look doors and screens inside the house, see our room dividers, or read our guide to black Soho-style aluminium windows.

Planning a period property or conservation area project? Replacing windows in a house with ones of a similar appearance is usually permitted development, but listed buildings, flats and homes in conservation areas with an Article 4 direction may need consent, so check with your council first. Read more in our frequently asked questions, or book a free design consultation. We fit heritage windows across London, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey.
