REHAU uPVC Bay and Bow Windows

Overview

REHAU bay and bow windows are made from TOTAL70 casement windows joined with structural bay poles or corner posts, so a projecting bay gets the same warmth, security and weather performance as the rest of your windows.

Colours and finishes

REHAU's range runs to 24 named colours across four collections: Contemporary (greys such as Anthracite Grey and Slate Grey, plus Midnight Black), Timeless (Simply White, Clotted Cream, Chartwell Green, Pearl Grey), Traditional woodgrains (Turner Oak, Irish Oak, Golden Oak, Rosewood) and Statement shades such as Racing Green. Many homeowners choose white or cream to keep the period look, or a woodgrain to echo the original timber.

What affects the cost of REHAU bay and bow windows?

Every installation is made to measure, so we quote after a free survey rather than publishing prices. The main things that affect the cost are:

  • The number of faces and the shape (a five-face bow costs more than a three-face splay).

  • Single or two storey, and whether scaffolding is needed.

  • The condition of the bay structure and whether new structural poles are needed.

  • Colour, glazing and Georgian bars.

  • Any repairs to the roof, cill or render above and below the bay.

Your quote is fixed and itemised, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

How we install REHAU bay and bow windows

  1. Structural survey: we check the bay roof and whether the existing frames are carrying weight, before we design the replacement.

  2. Design: we agree the number of faces, openers, colour and details.

  3. Made to measure: each face is fabricated to suit the angle of your bay.

  4. Installation: temporary supports go in, the old bay comes out and the new frames and bay poles are fixed, usually in one or two days.

  5. Sign-off: FENSA registration, a Building Regulations certificate and your guarantee.

Considering aluminium instead?

An aluminium bay window uses slimmer frames to bring more light into the room, with a finish in any of 150+ RAL colours. We can price both so you can compare.

REHAU bay and bow windows: frequently asked questions

Can you replace a timber bay with uPVC?

Yes. We survey the bay structure first, then fit structural poles or posts so the new frames are properly supported.

What is the difference between a bay and a bow window?

A bay usually has three angled or square faces. A bow uses four or more narrower windows to form a gentle curve.

Will a new bay window be warmer?

Yes. Modern double or triple glazing and multi-chambered frames make a big difference in a room that often feels cold.

Do I need structural work for a new bay window?

Often not, but older timber bays sometimes carry the weight of the roof above. We check at survey and fit structural bay poles where needed.

Do I need planning permission to replace a bay window?

Like-for-like replacement is usually permitted development. A new bay that projects further, or a listed building, may need permission.

How long does it take to fit a bay window?

Most single-storey bays are fitted in a day. Two-storey bays with scaffolding take longer.
