Bay Windows
Overview
An aluminium bay window projects out from the wall to add depth, light and a little extra floor space to a room. Bays are a defining feature of many Victorian and Edwardian homes, and replacing tired timber or uPVC bays with slim aluminium frames brings back their character with far less upkeep.
We make canted (angled), square and triangular bays, with any mix of fixed and opening sashes. Keep the glass clear for a modern look, or add Georgian bars to match a period façade. Many bays also support part of the wall or roof above, so our surveyor checks how yours is supported before anything is made.

Origin window systems we install
Bay windows are available on both of Origin's window systems.
Origin OW-70 Slimline: Origin's slimmer window system, with a 65mm sightline and U-values as low as 1.2 W/m²K.
Origin OW-80 Premium: a flush frame with a timber-like finish, a 91mm sightline and U-values as low as 0.8 W/m²K with Aerogel.
Both systems are tested to PAS 24 and Secured by Design accredited, come in over 150 RAL colours with dual-colour and textured finishes, and carry Origin's guarantee of up to 20 years, alongside our 10-year insurance-backed guarantee.

Can you replace my existing bay window?
Yes. We measure the existing bay, check how it is supported and make a new aluminium bay to fit, with fixed and opening sashes wherever you want them.
Which bay shapes can you make?
Canted bays with angled sides, square bays and triangular bays, in the number of sections your opening needs.
Can I have Georgian bars on a bay?
Yes. Georgian bars are available on bay windows, which suits many period homes.
Are aluminium bay windows secure?
Origin's OW-70 and OW-80 systems are tested to PAS 24 and Secured by Design accredited, with multi-point locking on opening sashes.
Do I need planning permission?
Replacing an existing bay with one of a similar appearance is usually permitted development for houses. Adding a new bay that projects from the front of the house is an extension and may need permission, as may listed buildings and homes in conservation areas.
