Single Doors
Overview
An aluminium single door is the practical workhorse of the house: a secure, good-looking door for the back of a kitchen, a side passage, a utility room or a garden room. Made on the same Origin systems as our bi-fold doors, it gives you slim frames, plenty of glass and a finish that lasts.
Choose inward or outward opening, and add fixed glazing beside or above the door to bring more light into a narrow hallway or utility. Weathered, mobility and non-weathered thresholds are available, so the door can suit an exposed back step or a level path to the garden. For the main entrance, see our front doors.
Every project starts with a free design visit, where we help you choose the configuration, colour, glazing and hardware, then take a full measure for an accurate quote. A surveyor checks every detail before anything is made, and our own fitting team installs your doors carefully and leaves your home clean.
You receive a FENSA certificate, a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee and the manufacturer's product guarantee. We supply and fit aluminium single doors across London, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey. Compare them with our French doors, or book a free design consultation.
Origin door systems we install
Origin single doors are available in three profile systems.
Origin OB-36+: Origin's slimmest profile, with a 36mm sightline and U-values as low as 0.78 W/m²K.
Origin OB-49: a 49mm sightline for more glass, with U-values as low as 1.1 W/m²K.
Origin OB-72: bolder 72mm profiles, with U-values as low as 1.1 W/m²K.
All three come in over 150 RAL colours, with dual-colour options, and carry Origin's guarantee of up to 20 years in standard environments (10 years on frames and 5 on hardware in marine environments), alongside our 10-year insurance-backed guarantee. Textured finishes are also available.
Single doors: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a single door and a front door?
Origin's front doors are a separate range of Secured by Design entrance doors. Single doors are glazed doors made on Origin's OB systems, ideal for back, side and utility doors.
Can I add glass beside or above the door?
Yes. Fixed glazed panels at the side or above bring more light into kitchens, utilities and hallways.
Can I have a level threshold?
Mobility thresholds are available for easier, step-free access. Weathered thresholds suit more exposed doors, and we check which works for your floor and drainage at survey.
Which system should I choose?
The OB-36+ gives the slimmest frames and best thermal performance; the OB-49 and OB-72 have wider profiles. We'll show you samples at your design visit.
Should it open inwards or outwards?
Either is possible. Outward-opening doors save space inside; inward-opening doors avoid a narrow path outside.
