Flat Rooflights
Overview
A flat rooflight is a sleek, low-profile pane of glass set into a flat roof, bringing daylight deep into kitchens, extensions and landings where windows can't reach. Where a roof lantern makes a bold feature, a flat rooflight almost disappears from outside and gives a clean, minimal look from inside.
We install Korniche flat rooflights, made in the UK. The glass sits on an upstand built at a slight pitch of 3 to 5 degrees, so rainwater runs off rather than pooling on the pane. Choose double or triple glazing, self-cleaning glass to help keep the roof clear, and solar-control or laminated glass where you need them.
Every project starts with a free design visit to look at your roof and the room below. We can work alongside your builder on a new extension, measuring the upstand once it is built so the rooflight fits exactly, and our own team installs it. Every installation comes with our 10-year insurance-backed guarantee. We supply and fit flat rooflights across London, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey, or book a free design consultation.

Flat rooflights: frequently asked questions
Flat rooflight or roof lantern?
A flat rooflight is minimal and sits low on the roof; a roof lantern adds height and makes a feature of the ceiling. We'll recommend the best option for your roof and room.
How big can a flat rooflight be?
Korniche's Flat Glass Rooflight goes up to 3m by 1.7m, with a maximum glass area of 3m². For bigger openings we can use more than one rooflight or a lantern.
Why does the upstand need a slight pitch?
A fall of 3 to 5 degrees lets rainwater run off the glass instead of sitting on it, which keeps the pane cleaner and protects the seals.
Which glass should I choose?
Self-cleaning glass helps keep the roof clear, solar-control glass reduces heat build-up on sunny roofs, and triple glazing improves thermal performance. Laminated glass adds safety and security.
Can I walk on a flat rooflight?
The Korniche rooflights we fit are designed as rooflights rather than walk-on glass. If you need a walk-on panel, let us know at your design visit.
Do rooflights need to meet Building Regulations?
Yes. In England a new or replacement rooflight should achieve a U-value of 2.2 W/m²K or better. A rooflight in a new extension is covered by the extension's Building Regulations approval.
